Why are all the top Historians British?

It seems whenever you read a book or watch a doentary the historian is usually british (mostly english). For example Ian Kershaw (Nazis), david starkey (monarchy) and then i saw this guy called Edmund Morris who has written books on Roosevelt. This is interesting as most historians study there own history, whearas british historians study home and world history. What is it that makes the british such great historians?
