Date to Farewell Dance?

So, I'm in 8th grade and we have a farewell dance coming up at the end of the year. people are starting to get dates to farewell. and im worried, like what if i dont get a date? i've never had a boyfriend before, and most people in my grade have. idk why i haven't. but about the dance, everyone i like already has a date or doesn't know me that well. Should i try to ask someone to go with me or should i wait for someone to ask me? what if no one asks me???
