What is the real reason for Republican opposition to health-care reform?

Former Senator "Rick" Santorum on Glenn Beck's show today gave me the impression that the real reason the Republicans are opposed to the Health-care reform bill is because it raises taxes on people making over $200,000 per year (which would presumably include Beck). Is all this talk about Socialism just a smokescreen to protect the Republican's wealthy constituency from a tax increase?
