I'm on Promethazine Dm it made me have a positive pregnancy test Is it tricking my body thinking its pregnant?

I'm on this med for Bronchitis - Promethazine DM. I just happened to be "late" this month so I took a Pregnancy test. I was so excited because it was positive. But my bubble burst when I looked up the effect of Promethazine on pregnancy on the net and read that it effects the Hcg and can cause false-positve results on pregnancy test. The only thing is now I'm spotting. I'm wondering could this medication be tricking my body into thinking I am pregnant?
