Is this the right kind punishment for sneaking out?

Bottom line is ....you broke the rules. Your parents put those rules in place to protect you. I remember being 16, I used to think that my parents were incredibly unfair at times. At 23, I know that they were protecting me. The punishment is strict. I don't know how long they are keeping the electronics from you, but it seems fair. I know it doesn't seem realistic at 16, but you could have been hurt. You may have been at a friends party, but horrible things can happen anywhere. You could have been in an accident, or have been hurt by someone that you don't know. If something had happened to you, then your parents may not have known where you were. When your parents tell you no, you need to listen. It is their job to give you advice, they were teens once and have been through it. Next time you want to attend a party, talk to your parents calmly and maturely. Do not try to sneak around and lie to them. By sneaking out, you undermine their authority. You need to show them that you are responsible if you want their trust in the future. They did not do anything wrong by grounding you, and restricting your activities.
